Mexico Lindo buffet

The Halifax Association of Vegetarians are hosting a vegetarian/vegan buffet, 6 PM on Tuesday, April 25th at Mexico Lindo (3635 Dutch Village Road). We return to Mexico Lindo each year because this unique buffet of authentic Mexican cuisine is fabulous and much less expensive than a trip to Mexico.

This is one of our most popular dinners with limited seating, everyone welcome but reserve at halifaxvegetarians@gmail.com if planning to attend. The buffet break-down is included below.

BUFFET MENU:  $22.00 + Tax per person



MEXICANA SALAD
In a bed of greens sliced mango, avocado, tomato, carrots and pumpkin seeds.

POBLANO CREAM SOUP
Creamy soup made with poblano peppers and corn nibbles.

GREEN CHILAQUILES
Tortilla chips cooked in tomatillo salsa, topped with melted cheese, cilantro, onion and sour cream.

Spinach and cheese

MEXICANA SALAD
In a bed of greens slice mango, avocado, tomato, carrots and pumpkin seeds.

SOY CEVICHE
Cooked soy protein mix with tomatoes, onion, cilantro, jalapeno peppers and a zest of lime juice

MEXICAN RICE
Rice fried in salsa and diced vegetables

BLACK BEANS
Refried Black beans with a hint of chipotle



LENTEJAS CON CHORIZO

Lentils cooked with chorizo seasoned soy.



 ROASTED POTATOES

Potatoes roasted with lime and oregano

TAMALES
Spinach and vegetables



TAQUITOS DORADOS

Fried rolled corn tortillas filled with potato and herbs.

Dinner at Just Spring Roll

Just Spring Roll, first level of Park Lane on Spring Garden Road, will host a dinner on Sunday, March 26, at 5:30 pm. The menu will include Mango Juice, Vietnamese Tofu salad , Spring Rolls, Tofu with lemon-grass & ginger, Tofu curry, Stir-fried vegetables, House Fried rice, Steam rice, Pad Thai, Jasmin tea / Coffee. With the exception of one item, this dinner is completely vegan.

Cost will be $15 - no tax/gratuity. Payment at dinner must be CASH or CHEQUE to HAV.  Everyone welcome, but we will only accept 20 reservations for this dinner due to limited seating. Reserve at halifaxvegetarians@gmail.com

Pizza at Salvatores

Our first dinner of 2017 will be held on Monday, February 27th, 6 - 8 pm.

Hosted by Salvatore's Pizza (5541 Young Street in Hydrostone), it is a members only dinner, but no need to miss it, as you can renew or obtain a membership at the dinner.

No speaker for this dinner, as we will have a short Annual General Meeting, to review the past year and discuss our plans for 2017.

All 10 of Salvatore's vegetarian/vegan pizzas will be available for sampling and will include salad. Chris, the owner, has agreed to add our choice of the best vegan pizza to his menu, and note that it is the choice of the Halifax Association of Vegetarians.

Our cost is $16 each, plus beverages, tax and gratuity (half price for children). Reserve now at halifaxvegetarians@gmail.com and note if you are vegan.

Our first event of 2017 is a vegan breakfast at The Wild Leek, 2156 Windsor St. Halifax,  on Friday, January 13th at 9 am. (Kirsten is opening one hour early for us).
